Inside CannaCon MN 2025: Lessons, Conversations, and Community

On August 9–10, 2025, the Minnesota cannabis industry converged in Saint Paul for CannaCon MN, one of the Midwest’s most important cannabis gatherings. The two-day conference brought together cultivators, dispensary operators, service providers, and regulators to exchange insights, build connections, and navigate Minnesota’s rapidly evolving cannabis market.

Cure8 was proud to participate as both an exhibitor and speaker, highlighting our deep commitment to supporting new cannabis businesses in the state with secure, compliant, and scalable IT solutions.

Cure8 on the Stage: The Perfect Launch

One of the event’s highlights was the panel presentation “The Perfect Launch: Do’s and Don’ts of Cannabis Startups in Minnesota.”

The session featured Cure8’s President, Munir Haque, joined by Brytany Melville, President of Forte, and Steven Eigenmann, founder of Canna Connect. Together, they shared hard-earned insights about what it really takes to launch successfully in Minnesota’s tightly regulated cannabis environment.

The discussion touched on some of the most pressing issues new operators face:

  • How to get started once you’ve secured a property
  • Common mistakes in site planning and compliance
  • The critical role of security and IT support in store buildouts
  • Strategies for interpreting, and acting on, Minnesota’s evolving cannabis regulations

For many attendees, the session helped transform overwhelming requirements into a practical roadmap for taking the first confident steps into the market.

Conversations That Mattered

Beyond the stage, Cure8’s booth became a hub for meaningful dialogue. Dozens of operators and entrepreneurs stopped by with questions ranging from property selection to compliance-ready technology setups.

A recurring theme across conversations was floor plan design. Attendees sought advice on how to map out compliant and efficient dispensary layouts; everything from customer flow to security camera coverage. Cure8 offered complimentary reviews of floor plans, giving licensees real-time feedback they could take home and apply immediately.

Another common request was clarity on connectivity and infrastructure. To support these needs, Cure8 provided free ISP connectivity reports and quotes, helping businesses understand their internet options before committing to vendors.

Hot Topics and Key Takeaways

CannaCon MN reflected both the excitement and challenges of entering Minnesota’s new cannabis market. Some of the most discussed themes included:

  • Property challenges: Securing a location remains a top hurdle for many operators.
  • Security and IT readiness: Licensees are increasingly aware that compliance isn’t just about cameras and safes. It’s also about strong, reliable digital infrastructure.
  • Regulation interpretation: Many entrepreneurs voiced uncertainty about how to correctly interpret Minnesota’s cannabis rules, underscoring the need for accessible, practical guidance.

These discussions made it clear that while Minnesota’s cannabis market is young, operators are already thinking critically about long-term sustainability.

Value Beyond the Booth

Cure8’s role at CannaCon MN wasn’t about sales pitches, it was about solutions. By offering consultations, reviewing store layouts, and providing actionable IT insights, we demonstrated the real-world value of having an experienced cannabis IT partner from day one.

The conversations weren’t one-sided either. Hearing directly from entrepreneurs gave us deeper perspective on the challenges they’re facing. That feedback will guide how we continue tailoring our services to meet the exact needs of Minnesota licensees.

And yes, there were lighter moments too. To celebrate a fellow industry professional, Chris Isley from Temeka, Cure8’s President wore a shirt printed with a picture of him skating in California, an icebreaker that sparked smiles, laughter, and memorable conversations.

Why Events Like CannaCon MN Matter

What made CannaCon MN stand out wasn’t just the networking or the packed exhibitor floor, but the sense of community and collaboration. Many attendees were first-time cannabis entrepreneurs, eager to learn, ask questions, and avoid costly mistakes. Service providers, meanwhile, showed up not just to promote themselves, but to truly listen and guide.

In such a heavily regulated and still-developing market, this kind of open dialogue is invaluable. Operators aren’t just looking for vendors; they’re looking for trusted partners who can walk with them through the complexities of compliance, technology, and growth.

Looking Ahead

Minnesota’s cannabis industry is at a pivotal stage. As licenses are awarded and doors begin to open, the businesses that thrive will be the ones that prioritize compliance, infrastructure, and strategic planning from the start.

Cure8 is proud to stand alongside Minnesota operators as they take on this challenge. Whether it’s through floor plan consultations, IT and security system design, or ongoing compliance monitoring, our goal is simple: to help cannabis businesses launch strong and grow with confidence.

Final Thoughts

CannaCon MN 2025 wasn’t simply another event. It was a milestone for Minnesota’s cannabis industry. From insightful panels to hands-on consultations, the conference reflected a shared determination to build a market that is professional, compliant, and resilient.

For Cure8, it was another reminder that our work goes beyond technology. It’s about empowering entrepreneurs, shaping smarter businesses, and helping a brand-new market find its footing.

As Minnesota’s cannabis rollout continues, we look forward to staying at the center of these conversations, on the expo floor, on the stage, and side by side with the operators making it all happen.
